Student athletes from Andrews University, Kansas Christian College and Southwestern Adventist University will converge at Union Adventist University for a long weekend of basketball and Christian fellowship from Thursday, Jan. 16 to Sunday, January 19. 

All games will be played in the Thunderdome on Prescott Avenue, and free parking is available at the College View Church. Friday afternoon, Saturday night and Sunday morning games will be streamed on the Union Live YouTube channel. 

Though just 5'7", Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. used basketball as a way to connect with young people wherever he traveled on behalf of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. One of his close friends, the congressman, ambassador and mayor Andrew Young, recalled in an interview with Forbes that King was a natural athlete who could shoot equally well with either hand. Teams from across the country, including the NBA, continue to celebrate the life and mission of King with basketball games. 

For many years, basketball teams from Adventist universities have come together for the holiday weekend. The three participating Seventh-day Adventist universities would not normally have an opportunity to play each other due to Southwestern and Union being in different regions of the NCCAA and Andrews being a member of the USCAA.
